Concept Design of a High-Voltage Electrostatic Sanitizer to Prevent Spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus

In addition to public health measures, including social distancing, masking, cleaning, surface disinfection, etc., ventilation and air filtration can be a key component of multi-pronged risk mitigation strategy against COVID-19 transmission indoors. Electrostatic precipitators (ESP) have already proved their high performance in fluid filtration, particularly industrial applications, control exhaust gas emissions remove fine superfine particles from the flowing gas, using high-voltage electrostatic fields forces. this contribution, sanitizer (ESS), based on precipitation concept, is proposed as supportive measure reduce indoor infection prevent spread coronavirus. The finite element method (FEM) used model simulate ESS, taking into account three main mechanisms involving sanitization, namely field, airflow, aerosol charging tracing, which are mutually coupled each other occur simultaneously during sanitization process. To consider capability designed ESS capturing particles, functional parameters developed such velocity, electric potential, space charge density, inside investigated FEM model. Simulation results demonstrate ability aerosols containing coronavirus, precipitating suspended viral trapping them oppositely charged electrode plates.
